I'm not so worried about the financial problems... they should be able to figure that out... it's called cut the spending. Instead of declaring "financial disaster" and killing the state employee's salaries... use the same stance and cut the "big ticket items"... like education, health & human services, and other piglets suckling at the pig until things get better.

Repealing the California constitution and re-enacting a new constitution is an end-round for 2 major defeats the liberals have had:

Proposition 8 - Banning Gay Marriage in California
Proposition 13 - Locking Property Taxes at 1% of original purchase price of the property

For years, the Libs have been trying to repeal Prop 13, blaming it for all of their financial woes in the state, yet spending has increased 80% in the last decade, and Prop 13 has been there for a long time... we don't have a revenue problem, we have a SPENDING problem. California spends something like 25 times the average state's budget... and enormously larger than Texas, Florida, or New York, all of which are close in size.

This proposal includes a request for approval of a Minor Use Permit to allow for the operation of a Synagogue, office, and child day care facility, a Variance to allow for reduced parking requirements, and Minor Boundary Line Adjustment to create one parcel on the site, which is currently comprised of two separate parcels. The project would include interior and exterior modifications to the existing South Placer Fire Department located at 4410 Douglas Boulevard at Woodgrove Way, including reconfigured parking and access areas, landscaping, and a modification of the façade of the building. The project would also include the addition of approximately 2,714 square feet to the existing facility.

It's a good thing that Granite Bay doesn't have any crime to speak of... with the lack of a city government in this unincorporated area of Placer County, the local "structure" includes the Municipal Advisory Committee (MAC).

To date, the MAC has generally included government-employee types... which I don't have anything personally against government employees, other than they tend to always sign the back of checks instead of the front of ones... meaning they rarely know where the money comes from or what it takes to generate it, to give it to a government entity, so they can waste 70% of it on frivolous things and deliver the other 30% to areas where the rubber meets the road.

I can't help but link to the 2008 December meeting minutes (randomly selected from 20 others) and point out the pointlessness of a body like this.

Item 1, addressing complaints about traffic on Cavitt-Stallman Road. I drive around the area a lot, and I don't think I've ever actually seen more than 3 cars on Cavitt Stallman Road within eyeshot of each other at the same time in my life. If traffic gets a little backed up because a church is letting out... it will probably last about 5 minutes. What's the real issue here? An attack on the fact that there is a church in the neighborhood and something "MUST" be done about it... like kicking them out of the area? Or does the complaint want to widen Cavitt Stallman Road to maybe 4 lanes in either direction, take out about 40 feet of every property owner's front yard, and install traffic signals to stop the 5 cars per hour every 3 blocks or so to sit stupidly at a red light for 3 minutes without seeing another soul for miles. I need to upload photos later to illustrate the ignorance on this.

Generally include a NIMBY type attack on normal housing development, and on the off months, routinely denying any kind of business development, store signs, or anything else that might help to generate some of the revenue that is confiscated by the employers of the Granite Bay MAC and handed out to them as payroll checks later in the cycle.

On number 9, residents of Eden Roc are trying to prevent start of construction on Eden Roc II, which essentially starts building houses at the end of a dead-end road constructed with the obvious intent of continuing it later while the first few houses were sold. The tempers flare with accusations from workmen on the site will create a fire hazard, to heavy equipment brought in and out will damage their road. As if the homebuilder was going to wreck the road and then try to sell $1M houses without making whatever minor repairs would be needed.

Note that the MAC doesn't approve or disapprove projects... just makes a motion to approve the fire abatement plan and a road maintenance agreement. Big deal.

Strange to imagine that a high school football game has fireworks on a somewhat regular basis, particularly during a recession, but here it is - enjoy.
